Description: Lydia is a fairly typical Slytherin; her parents are important, Pureblood higher-ups in the Ministry of Magic with quite a large fortune. Lydia embodies the competitive and ambitious spirit of her House, fighting tooth and nail to have the best grades and be the most impressive student at Hogwarts. Her biggest competitor is Hermione Granger, though Lydia respects Hermione’s work ethic and uses it to push herself harder and farther. She aspires to be the Minister of Magic one day and refuses to let anything get in her way of doing so, making sure to not only get the best grades and be the best, but to also be well-liked by her peers. Lydia has a close-knit group of Slytherin friends and is fiercely loyal to her Housemates, a firm believer that House is family and family comes first. But she is not opposed to the idea of inter-House friendships and is friendly with her classmates, even going so far as to tutor other students in Astronomy, her best subject (she is quite close with Professor Sinistra). She is clever and cynical, but generally outgoing and friendly to others. Above all, Lydia values ambition and cordiality respects anyone who also values these traits.
Dark Secret(s): Lydia is not a Pureblood, though she claims to be one. The man she calls her father is not her biological father- he is a childhood friend of her mother’s who married her when she discovered that she’d gotten pregnant after a one night stand with a Muggle. Lydia accidentally found out about her conception when she was 10, but only she and her parents know (her biological father is unaware of her existence). She expresses neutrality towards the Dark Lord, though only when pressed, and tells her peers that she needs to prepare for her N.E.W.T. exams so while she is following the news, she is not going to participate in debates. Secretly, she vehemently opposes the Dark Lord’s agenda, but in the interest of looking like a Pureblood, she keeps her mouth shut in regards to anything about him.
